Common questions

What is Rockmoon?

Rockmoon is an MCP-native financial data service for AI agents. It provides fundamental data for 30,000+ listed companies across the US, Japan and Korea, with history back to 2009, extracted directly from regulator XBRL filings (SEC EDGAR, EDINET, DART). Every value is traceable to the exact fact in the original filing.

How do I connect Claude Code or Cursor to real financial data?

Add the Rockmoon MCP server with one command: claude mcp add --transport http rockmoon https://mcp.rockmoon.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY". Your agent then gets 18 tools for financial statements, segments, screening, insider trades and holdings. Works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Cline, or any MCP client.

Does Rockmoon cover Japanese and Korean stocks?

Yes. Rockmoon covers Japan via EDINET filings and Korea via DART filings, alongside the US via SEC EDGAR — all normalized into one 80-field schema, so an agent can compare Sony and Apple gross margins in a single query without stitching together multiple vendors.

How far back does the data go?

US fundamentals go back to 2009; Japan and Korea cover roughly 10–15 years depending on the filer. Most $20–30/month data subscriptions cap history at 5 years; full-cycle analysis and backtests need more.

Can I verify the numbers against the original filings?

Yes — that is the core design. Every value carries provenance back to the source XBRL fact, and the public trace explorer at rockmoon.ai lets you click any cell and see the original filing with that exact fact highlighted. Field definitions are anchored to the official accounting specs (Reg S-X, ASC, IFRS, K-IFRS).

How much does Rockmoon cost?

The free tier includes full-depth financial statements at 50 requests/day, no card required. The early-bird plan is $9.90/month (regular $19) for all data — segments, insider trades, holdings — at 60 requests/minute. Unlimited throughput and REST access are available by emailing [email protected].

How is Rockmoon different from yfinance or sec-edgar-mcp?

Those are good free options for US tickers, but the depth is limited and there is no cross-market schema. Rockmoon parses the raw XBRL itself across three markets, audits the output against the source documents and against commercial vendors, and serves it over MCP with per-value traceability.

What data does Rockmoon include besides financial statements?

Business, geographic and product segment revenue with time series; US insider trades (Form 3/4/5, ingested daily — filed today, queryable tomorrow); institutional holdings (13F); and major shareholder / director holdings for Japan and Korea.

Rockmoon is built by a small team. We can’t promise enterprise SLAs yet — what we can promise is that we’ll do our best to help with everything we can, and that emails are answered by the people who built the pipeline. Tell us what broke or what you wish worked.
